| Edward
B. Lattey (1899 - ) was born in Auckland and
worked as a bushman and farmer in the King country before becoming an artist when
he was over 40 years of age. He
painted scenes of the New Zealand bush, on site, changing from watercolour to
oil later in life. Dorothy Richmond was a cousin and friend.
Lattey lived
in Levin from 1951. His work is in several New Zealand public collections, including
Anderson Park Art Gallery, Invercargill, Manawatu Art Gallery, Palmerston North, and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington. He won a merit prize in the Kelliher Awards in 1962.
