As one of the many descendants of the Vogel immigration schemes - my lot really did go to the Promised Land which is what the Karamea group called part of their settlement - I shall treasure the book and make sure my own descendants do too. Perhaps it is not surprising that the book is in demand. In my own case, it was amazing to discover my great-grandfather had been used as an example of the ideal settler by the author, with lots of fascinating background research included. I have a personal interest in this book as Hannah Ellison was the midwife who nursed Thomas Hall's wife & gave evidence at his trial in 1886. She was my Gt Grandmother.... Regarding the other book you mentioned (VILE CRIMES by Peter GRAHAM), I have already purchased and read it .... I'll have to re-read it when time allows. Regarding Helen Wilsons book, I really like her style of writing, almost as though I was there with her. ... I'm bitten by the Genealogy "Bug" and it leads to all sorts of things.
